The Archdiocese of Hobart is the expression of the Catholic Church in Tasmania and includes the Catholic Church parishes throughout the state. “Chancery” is the traditional name for those administrative offices of a Catholic diocese which directly support the diocesan bishop. In the Archdiocese of Hobart, the Chancery provides advice and support to the Archbishop of Hobart, Vicar General and Diocesan Curia in the pastoral governance and administration of the archdiocese, its parishes, diocesan entities and agencies.

We are seeking an enthusiastic and highly organised Pastoral Engagement Support Officer to join our team in New Town. This is a diverse and rewarding part-time role.

About the Role

Reporting to the Vice Chancellor, the role will provide high-quality administrative, coordination, communication and pastoral support across a diverse range of diocesan activities. This varied role suits someone who enjoys working with people, managing multiple priorities and contributing to projects that make a positive difference.

Key responsibilities include:

- Coordinating pastoral programs, workshops, retreats, conferences and community events.
- Managing registrations, participant communications and event logistics.
- Supporting volunteers and stakeholder engagement activities.
- Providing responsive support to parishes, schools, ministries and community groups.
- Preparing correspondence, meeting documentation and reports.
- Maintaining databases, records and communication platforms.
- Assisting with newsletters, promotional materials, website content and social media updates.
- Supporting the effective administration and day-to-day operations of the Pastoral Office.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

- Strong administration,



coordination or project support experience.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- The ability to build positive relationships with a broad range of stakeholders.
- Initiative, professionalism and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and confidence using digital communication tools.
- A collaborative and service-oriented approach

You will also demonstrate an understanding of, and respect for, the mission and values of the Catholic Church and be comfortable working within a faith-based environment.

Requirements

The successful applicant will be required to:

- Hold or obtain a current Working with Vulnerable People Registration (Tasmania).
- Successfully complete a National Police Criminal History Check.
- Support the mission and values of the Catholic Church and the Archdiocese of Hobart.
