About the role

RG Mining Consulting is seeking a motivated Principal Mining Engineer based in Australia with strong open pit design and practical mining experience to move beyond purely technical roles and into studies, advisory and project development work. This role offers the prospect to apply your technical expertise while working directly with clients and senior stakeholders, communicating confidently, operating independently, and taking ownership of workstreams while gaining further exposure to project management, commercial decision-making, and business development.

Key responsibilities

- Mine planning, mine design, and scheduling

- Support JORC Resources & Reserves and technical due diligence work

- Feasibility, optimisation, and life-of-mine studies

- Provide inputs into mine approvals and development plans

- Liaise with clients, regulators, and stakeholders

- Support clients progressing projects from exploration through to development

- Assist with proposals and business development

- Contribute to project delivery and client presentations

About you

- Mining Engineering degree

- 15+ years open pit experience

- Strong practical mining background





- Strong open pit design and planning experience

- Experience with Spry for Scheduling and Deswik, Vulcan or similar for mine design

- Multi-commodity experience will be looked upon favourably

- Strong communication and influencing skills

- Able to work autonomously and take ownership

- Commercially minded and motivated to grow

- Keen to develop project, client, and business skills
