Job Description

At present we are recruiting across the Barwon Precinct -
Barwon Prison, Marngoneet Correctional Centre (Karreenga) and Western Plains Correctional Centre.
The role n
As a prison officer, you play a crucial part in a person's rehabilitation journey and ensure the safety and security of the facility.
n
Prison officers supervise daily activities, support positive behaviour, and respond to incidents to ensure the protected operation of the prison.
n
You will be challenged, but your resilience and dedication will help you thrive.

We're seeking good communicators who approach each day with a positive mindset and a belief that people have the capacity to change.

There are no specific skilled background or qualifications needed for the role. It's your life experience that counts in this job.

Australian Defence Force veterans are encouraged to apply.
What's in it for you n

Earn up to $93,938 with a base salary of $65,373 plus penalty rates and overtime
n
Annual salary increases, 5 weeks annual leave, 3 weeks personal leave and provisions for study leave
n
43 days comprehensive paid training (full time)

Complete a Certificate III in Correctional Practice (Adult Custodial)
n

New prison officers are now eligible for a bonus of up to $8,000. Six months after commencing, you will receive a payment of $4,000. Then, after one year's full time employment, you will receive an additional payment of $4,000. Conditions and eligibility criteria apply, see our website for details.

You must be an Australian or New Zealand citizen or hold Australian permanent residency. You also need to hold an Australian driver's licence (minimum P2).
