Strategic Planning Officer x 2

- Two roles - 1 x ongoing Full-Time and 1 x temporary Full-Time up to 4 years
- Located in Eveleigh (with flexible working arrangements available)
- Competitive salary of $116,981 to $129,492 pa, plus super and leave loading
About the role
School Infrastructure is delivering new school buildings, major upgrades and maintenance strategies to ensure every school-aged child has access to high-quality education facilities at their local public school. This encompasses the largest investment in public education infrastructure in the history of NSW.
Our team supports strategic planning and urban development initiatives across NSW, working with government agencies, local councils, developers and internal project teams to ensure school infrastructure requirements are considered as communities grow and change.

Primary purpose of the role
As the Strategic Planning Officer, you'll play a key role in shaping how school infrastructure responds to future growth and development across NSW. You'll provide strategic advice, undertake research and analysis, and work with a range of stakeholders to identify opportunities, manage risks and support evidence-based planning outcomes.
- Prepare reports, briefings and strategic advice on planning, urban development and asset planning matters.
- Review and respond to strategic planning documents, including master plans, structure plans and planning proposals,
to assess future school infrastructure needs.
- Provide advice on strategic planning and master planning for new schools and upgrades.
- Work with councils, government agencies, developers and other stakeholders to support coordinated planning outcomes.
- Undertake research and analysis to identify emerging risks, opportunities and infrastructure needs.
- Build strong stakeholder relationships and communicate strategic planning advice clearly and confidently.
About you
- You have experience in strategic planning, urban development, placemaking, land use planning or a related field.
- You have robust research and analytical skills and can provide clear, evidence-based advice.
- You build strong relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders and can work effectively across government and industry.
- You have a sound understanding of the legislative and regulatory environment relevant to strategic planning.
- Knowledge of and commitment to implementing the Department's Aboriginal Education Policy and upholding the Department's Partnership Agreement with the NSW AECG and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people.
Essential requirements of the role
- Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or strategic planning experience in urban design, placemaking and public space design.
- Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the value of public education.

Note: the selection process will include a range of assessment techniques to assist in determining your suitability for the role. Successful candidates will be required to undertake pre-employment screening for this role which includes a National Criminal History Check.
As a condition of employment, successful candidates not currently employed by the Department must provide a valid Working with Children Check (WWCC) clearance number. Renewal is not required after the WWCC expires, as long as you remain in a non-child-related role. Employer obligations only apply while the WWCC is valid.
