You also know a good tender takes initiative. You pick up the phone, chase the right trades, question assumptions and keep things moving.

At Melrose, we’re looking for an Estimator who brings both: a sharp eye for detail and the drive to help us win work we can deliver with confidence.

The prospect

You’ll take ownership of tenders from initial review through to submission, negotiation and handover, working closely with our construction teams, subcontractors and suppliers.

Your judgement and ideas will matter. You’ll contribute to how we approach opportunities, develop practical alternatives and improve our estimating process. You’ll also learn from delivery, seeing how decisions made during tender play out on site.

What you’ll do

- Review drawings and specifications, identify scope gaps and assess risks and opportunities.
- Prepare take-offs, trade packages, cost plans and detailed estimates.
- Secure trade coverage, clarify inclusions and compare quotes beyond the final price.
- Work with construction teams to test buildability, methodology and program.
- Keep tenders moving and present clear pricing, assumptions and recommendations.




- Deliver thorough handovers so the project team understands what’s been allowed and committed.

What you’ll bring

- Construction estimating experience and a sound understanding of trade scopes, construction methods and cost drivers.
- Commercial judgement to balance competitive pricing with delivery risk.
- Confidence using estimating software, digital take-off tools and Excel. We use buildsoft and CostX; experience with either is an advantage.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- The ability to manage deadlines without losing attention to detail.
