We are seeking an experienced Geotechnical / Structural Design Engineer to join our team based in Hoppers Crossing.

This is a hands-on engineering role focused on basement construction, retention systems, deep excavation and temporary works. You will work closely with our project and site teams to develop practical, buildable and cost-effective engineering solutions.

Key Responsibilities :

- Design and review of basement retention and temporary works systems.
- Design of soldier pile and shotcrete walls, piled retention systems, ground anchors, walers, capping beams, steel propping and bracing.
- Review geotechnical investigations, ground conditions, groundwater and soil/rock design parameters.
- Assess earth pressures, surcharge loads, structural loads and excavation sequencing.
- Develop practical excavation, retention and propping methodologies.
- Review consultant designs and identify value engineering, buildability and cost-saving opportunities.
- Provide engineering support to project teams during construction.
- Undertake site inspections and resolve engineering issues as ground conditions are exposed.

About You

You will ideally have:

- A Civil Engineering degree with structural and/or geotechnical experience.
- 5+ years' relevant experience,



preferably involving basement construction.
- Strong experience with deep excavations, piling, retention systems, ground anchors and temporary works.
- An understanding of both geotechnical behaviour and structural design.
- Experience with engineering software such as PLAXIS, WALLAP, SpaceGass, Strand7 or similar.
- A practical understanding of construction methodology and sequencing.
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills.

Contractor-side experience in basement construction, piling, bulk excavation or temporary works will be highly regarded.

The Opportunity

This position provides an opportunity to become closely involved in the engineering and construction methodology behind complex basement projects, rather than being limited to one narrow design discipline.

You will have the opportunity to influence projects from early design and tender development through to excavation and completion of the basement structure.

You'll work alongside experienced construction personnel and have the ability to see your engineering solutions developed, priced and physically constructed on site.
