Lead the house. Develop the team. Shape great care.
Great residential care relies on strong teams, consistent practice and leaders who can bring both together.
We're looking for a Team Manager to lead one of Junction's residential care homes in Wangaratta, supporting a team of Residential Care Workers to provide safe, consistent and trauma-informed care to young people.
This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll have the opportunity to develop your team, shape practice and create the structure and consistency that helps both staff and young people thrive.
SCHADS Level 6, Paypoint 1 | $58.37 per hour + super | Full-time, ongoing
You don't necessarily need to already have "Manager" in your job title. You might be a Team Leader, Senior Practitioner, Case Manager or experienced practitioner who is ready to take the next step into operational leadership.
What's in it for you
Along with meaningful work and the opportunity to grow your leadership career, you'll have access to:
- NFP Salary Packaging up to $15,900 per year
- An extra week of annual leave each year
- Annual wage increases in line with CPI increase
- Ongoing training and career development
- Genuine opportunities for career progression
- Employee Assistance Program and debriefing support
- Access to wellbeing benefits such as Fitness Passport and Hume Bank Partnership
- The opportunity to lead your own team while remaining connected to frontline practice
What will you actually be doing?
There isn't really a "typical" day in residential care, but you can expect to:
- Lead and develop your team, providing supervision, coaching, feedback and opportunities for professional growth.
- Lead the day-to-day operation of the home,
creating the structure and consistency that supports both staff and young people.
- Shape strong therapeutic practice, working alongside Case Managers and the broader care team to turn case plans, goals and strategies into everyday care.
- Lead through complexity, managing risk, responding to changing situations and providing calm direction when your team needs it.
- Keep young people at the centre, ensuring their voice, goals and needs influence decisions about their home and support.
- Maintain quality and accountability, building robust stakeholder relationships and ensuring the home meets relevant care standards and requirements.
You'll work alongside Case Managers, a Therapeutic Specialist, other Team Managers and the broader Care Services team, so while there's real responsibility in this role, you won't be working in isolation.
You'll also remain connected to frontline practice and may provide direct care or work within Junction's residential houses when operationally required.
The person we're looking for
You don't need to pretend residential care is easy.
We're looking for someone who understands that good leadership in this environment means being present, consistent and accountable.
You can build trust and set explicit expectations. You can support a staff member while still having difficult conversations when they're needed. When something doesn't go to plan, you can remain calm,
make decisions and know when to ask for support.
Most importantly, you understand that the culture, routines and relationships within a residential home have a direct impact on the young people who live there.
What you'll need
A relevant Bachelor's degree is an essential requirement for this position.
This may include a Bachelor's degree in:
Social Work | Community Services | Disability | another relevant discipline
You'll also bring:
- An understanding of complex trauma and the developmental and therapeutic needs of young people requiring protective care
- The ability to lead, support and develop permanent and casual employees
- Confidence managing challenging situations and supporting teams through change
- Strong risk assessment, decision-making and problem-solving skills
- Strong communication, relationship-building and conflict resolution skills
