QLD Service Delivery Branch is responsible for engaging with participants and managing participant plans and supports. Planning teams provide direct service delivery for NDIS participants; engaging with participants and managing participant plans and supports to ensure nationally consistent participant experiences aligned to the Participant Service Guarantee.

The APS6 Remote Planner will be required to undertake planning activities and tasks using available information where options are not always evident. The position will be required to perform procedural, clerical, administrative and operational tasks that supports and contributes to NDIA’s objectives to “build a world-leading National Disability Insurance Scheme”.

The APS6 Remote Planner will have a considerable level of contact with internal and external stakeholders and will be required to communicate with and provide advice on a range of service delivery matters to resolve moderately complex to complex enquiries.

As the APS6 Remote Planner, you will be passionate about working in your local rural and remote communities to support people in the communities with their NDIS journey. You will be required to attend external locations offsite including participants' homes (which may have multiple stories or be accessible only via uneven ground, stairs). You will perform high levels of phone usage and/or face to face work. You must be comfortable driving a vehicle over possible long distances in remote locations on unsealed roads and in all traffic and weather conditions, including the capacity to deal with minor vehicle problem (e.g. changing a tyre). Travel via light aircraft may be required to access remote communities. You will require physical capacity and mobility to safely navigate uneven terrain, including unsealed roads, footpaths, steps and stairs, in a variety of weather conditions.

The key duties of the position include:

Duties of the Role may include:

- Gathering information from participants and their representatives, planning partners and multiple stakeholders, to enable high-quality planning and evidence-based decision-making.
- Determining funded supports to be included in participant plans to complement informal and formal supports.
- Monitoring participant plans, ensuring effective implementation and expenditure of the supports throughout the life of the plan.
- Working closely with participants and their representatives to identify current and future supports, and informal, mainstream and community support options to achieve plan outcomes.
- Resolving issues and complaints in relation to participant plans.
- Collaborating with team members and assisting to develop specialised knowledge in areas of expertise.
- Coaching and mentoring staff and monitoring team capacity and workflow activities.




- Contributing to and leading quality improvement activities to enhance service delivery practice, processes and systems.

The ideal candidate will have:

- Ability to understand, communicate and interact effectively with people from diverse cultural backgrounds, including remote Indigenous communities.

Eligibility

This role is required to be performed from Mount Isa, Cairns, Cooktown, Thursday Island, Townsville and Weipa offices. Alternate office locations or arrangements will not be considered.

Ongoing and non-ongoing roles up to 12 months with the possibility of extension up to 2 years may be offered.

Successful candidates will be required to undergo a pre-employment National Police History check, Worker Screening check and/or Working with Children Check (where required) and provide evidence of Australian Citizens
