Job Title: Shopify E-Commerce Specialist
Location: Remote
Start Date: Immediate
Job Type: Part-Time (4 hours/day)
We're looking for an experienced Shopify Ecommerce Specialist to help build a new Shopify store from the ground up and manage it as it grows. Our client is an established Australian supplier of homewares and sanitaryware with a large, multi-brand product range. As part of a brand refresh, they're creating a new Shopify store and need someone who can turn a complex product catalogue into a well-structured, easy-to-shop online experience . You'll work closely with the Australian team and an external designer, taking ownership of the Shopify build, catalogue structure, implementation, and ongoing ecommerce management.
Key Responsibilities
Shopify Store Build
- Plan and build catalogue structures for a large SKU range, including categories, collections, product types, tags, and metafields.
- Set up navigation, menus, filters, and Search & Discovery functionality across thousands of products.
- Bulk-import and organise products using CSV or Matrixify, including variants, specifications, images, and PDF spec sheets.
- Customise Shopify 2.0 themes, including product, collection, and landing page templates.
- Make light Liquid/CSS edits where required.
- Set up redirects from the existing website to preserve search rankings.
Design Collaboration
- Work with the internal team to develop clear design briefs for the external designer.
- Provide input on site structure, page requirements, templates, functionality,
and reference websites.
- Act as the bridge between the business and designer, ensuring designs are practical and achievable within Shopify.
- Implement approved designs within the Shopify theme.
Ongoing Ecommerce Management
- Maintain accurate product data, pricing, collections, and catalogue information.
- Recommend, install, and manage Shopify apps where appropriate.
- Monitor site performance, search terms, broken links, and opportunities for improvement.
- Manage basic on-page SEO, including meta titles, descriptions, alt text, and URL structure.
- Continuously look for ways to improve the customer shopping experience.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of hands-on Shopify experience , including at least one full Shopify store build.
- Experience managing large catalogues with 1,000+ SKUs .
- Strong experience with complex product variants, collections, filters, and catalogue structures.
- Robust CSV and bulk product data management skills.
- Matrixify experience is highly regarded.
- Working knowledge of Shopify 2.0 themes, sections, and metafields.
- Basic Liquid and CSS knowledge.
- Strong ecommerce thinking, with the ability to structure products based on how customers actually shop.
- Clear written English and confidence writing briefs and explaining recommendations.
- Ability to provide links to Shopify stores you have built or managed and explain your contribution to each.
Nice to Have
- Experience in building supplies, bathroom, homewares, furniture, or similar ecommerce industries .
- Experience migrating an existing website to Shopify.
- Familiarity with Figma for reviewing designer files.
- Experience with Google Analytics and Google Search Console .
