Job Description
The Trustee for the Reilly Pastoral Trust RPC Dalby Pty Ltd is looking for a Diesel Motor Mechanic to keep the vehicles, plant and machinery across our piggery and farming operations running safely and reliably. This is a permanent, full-time role based in Dalby, looking after farm transport, feed trucks, tractors, feed mixers, generators and related equipment that support daily production.
- Inspect, service and repair diesel engines and mechanical components on trucks, tractors, feed mixers and farm equipment
- Diagnose engine, transmission, brake, electrical and hydraulic faults using diagnostic tools and testing equipment
- Carry out routine maintenance, including oil changes, filter replacements, lubrication and adjustments
- Dismantle and reassemble engines, gearboxes and other major mechanical components
- Repair or replace parts such as valves, pistons, bearings, brakes and steering components
- Test and tune engines for performance and fuel efficiency
- Maintain and repair air-conditioning, cooling and exhaust systems
- Calibrate, align and test systems to manufacturer and safety specifications
- Keep accurate service records and report maintenance schedules to your supervisor
- Assist with training and guiding apprentices and trade assistants
- Follow all WHS and biosecurity procedures on site
Requirements
- Certificate III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology or equivalent AQF qualification
- At least 1 year of relevant experience as a Diesel Motor Mechanic
- Positive knowledge of diesel engine systems, diagnostics and agricultural machinery
- Able to read service manuals, wiring diagrams and technical specifications
- Current driver's licence (desirable / essential)
- Understanding of WHS and safe work procedures in a workshop or farm setting
- Reliable, punctual and proactive about preventing breakdowns
- Able to work independently and as part of a team
- Able to perform the inherent requirements of the role, including manual work in varying farm conditions
- Willing to follow farm biosecurity and animal welfare standards
Conditions and Benefits
- Full-time, 38 hours per week, with overtime or weekend work at times during breakdowns or harvest
- Work in both the workshop and outdoor farm environments, with exposure to noise, dust and grease
- PPE and site safety and biosecurity requirements apply
