Senior Mechanical Engineer - Design and Analysis

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our client-facing applications engineering team. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering practical engineering solutions, providing guidance and support to our Junior engineering team, and assisting our sales team and clients in the field - mining sites across Australia and internationally.

Provide mentorship and support to the younger team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.

Use structural FEA for capacity and functional analysis of fabricated steel structures.

Analyse CPS's products for structural and functional adequacy using established standards, first principles and best practice.

Conduct conveyor audits and diagnose root causes of failures in conveyor rollers, idler frames, and pulleys.

Travel and support our clients/stake holders in the field at various mining sites across Australia and internationally. Up to 3 days a month on average.





Produce professional technical reports justifying engineering designs, recommendations, and findings.

Apply creative thinking and critical judgement to develop new or existing designs and solutions for our customers.

Communicate solutions and interact effectively with clients and other major stakeholders in the field and throughout CPS.

Be a solid positive contributor to the learning, growth, and continuous development of the applications engineering team personnel, technical methods and capabilities, and reputation.

Desirable attribute/skill sets:

- Structural based FEA fluency - e.g. ANSYS mechanical.
- Structural/fatigue analysis experience and capability in applying established methods outlined in AS 4100, BS7608, AS 4991 and AS 3990
- Conveyor design knowledge and software use such as Helix or Sidewinder
- CAD design experience using Solidworks, Inventor or other.
- Understand mechanical tolerances (including basic GD&T; principles), design for manufacture principles in turning, milling, and welded fabrications. Operation or familiarity with CMM/3D scanning equipment.
- Practical and hobby experience with mechanical equipment is also viewed favourably
- Practical skill sets and willingness to perform manual handling works such as disassembling rollers and use of mechanical testing equipment.
- Exposure or knowledge of quality management concepts and systems - Continuous improvement, PDCA, lean, Root Cause Analyses, etc

Required Qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Mechatronics, Structural, or related field/equivalent)
