As our Banking Officer , you'll be responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely processing of banking transactions, maintaining financial compliance, and supporting critical finance functions that contribute to the smooth operation of the Institute.

This is a casual chance. Salary is $44.37 per hour, plus 12% superannuation.

About the role

Reporting to the Senior Financial Accountant, the Banking Officer is responsible for ensuring the accurate, timely and compliant processing of the Institute's banking activities. Working as part of a collaborative Finance and Payroll team, you will support financial operations through daily banking reconciliations, cash management, compliance activities and stakeholder support.

This is a critical role that helps maintain the integrity of financial data and ensures daily banking allocations and associated tasks are completed accurately and on time. Where daily banking allocations and tasks are not completed during the required period, the role assists in ensuring outstanding items are identified, investigated and resolved promptly to maintain financial accuracy and compliance.

In addition, the role contributes to broader finance operations, supporting professional accounting duties across financial accounting activities, compliance reporting, month-end processes,



and transactional finance functions including accounts payable, accounts receivable and purchasing.

What you'll do:

- Process and reconcile daily banking transactions, ensuring accuracy, timeliness and compliance.
- Record and match banking transactions and prepare cash receipt journals within the finance system.
- Monitor and analyse cash flow positions, identifying and escalating potential liquidity issues where required.
- Verify and investigate miscellaneous banking transactions and resolve discrepancies.
- Administer corporate credit card and virtual card processes, including issuance, monitoring and reconciliation.
- Support month-end financial processes and compliance reporting activities.
- Contribute to accounts payable, accounts receivable and purchasing transactions as required.
- Maintain banking registers, reconciliations and financial records to a high standard of accuracy.
- Provide advice, support and training to staff on banking processes and finance systems.
- Liaise with internal stakeholders and external parties regarding financial transactions and banking matters.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across finance operations.
- Build and maintain positive working relationships with stakeholders across the Institute.

About You:

Qualifications, Knowledge & Skills:

- Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of qualifications, training and experience.
- Diploma or Certificate IV in Accounting is highly regarded.
- Demonstrated experience in banking, finance administration or financial accounting within a medium to large organisation.
- Experience processing and reconciling high-volume banking transactions with a strong focus on accuracy and compliance.
- Sound understanding of financial accounting principles and transactional finance processes.
- Experience supporting accounts payable, accounts receivable and purchasing functions.
- Experience using finance and ERP systems, with the ability to quickly learn new technologies.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to investigate and resolve discrepancies.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to maintaining data integrity.




- Ability to prioritise competing deadlines and manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Well-developed communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Alignment with a child-safe, inclusive and values-based workplace
- Have, or be willing to obtain, Victorian Working with Children Check and National Police Check clearance.
