Islamic College of Brisbane is seeking an experienced Chef to lead the day-to-day operations of our College café to commence in January 2027. This role combines hands‑on food preparation and service with kitchen leadership and practical training for students.
You will oversee café operations, plan menus, manage stock and suppliers, and maintain high standards of food quality, hygiene and safety. You will also supervise and support kitchen staff, organise daily workloads, and help create a welcoming café experience for students, staff and visitors.
A key part of the role is delivering practical hospitality and kitchen training to students. You will provide clear instruction, demonstrate safe work practices, and support students as they develop their skills and confidence.

Selection Criteria
- Proven experience as a Chef, including responsibility for kitchen operations.
- Experience supervising staff and managing a busy food service environment.
- Relevant commercial cookery qualifications and a Training and Assessment (TAE) qualification.
- Strong knowledge of food safety, allergen management and workplace health and safety.
- The ability to engage and support students with patience and professionalism.
- Flexibility to meet the operational needs of a school café.
Experience training young people or working in a school or vocational education setting would be highly regarded.
