Canvas Ventures is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our dynamic team in Sydney NSW 2000. This is a contract position that offers the opportunity to make a significant impact on our technology initiatives. As a Senior Software Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining robust software solutions that drive our business forward. This role is strategically important to our organisation as it will contribute to the development of innovative technology products and services that define our competitive advantage in the market.

Key responsibilities

- Design and develop scalable, high-quality software applications and systems using modern programming languages and frameworks
- Lead the technical design and architecture of software solutions, ensuring they align with business requirements and technical standards
- Conduct code reviews to maintain code quality and consistency
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including product managers to deliver solutions that meet user needs
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues, providing productive solutions and documenting lessons learned
- Participate in the full software development lifecycle, from requirements gathering through to deployment and maintenance
- Stay current with emerging technologies and industry best practices, sharing knowledge with the team
- Optimise application performance and implement security best practices to protect data and systems

What we're looking for

- 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, with a proven track record in designing and delivering production-quality software solutions
- Solid understanding of software design principles, design patterns, and architectural best practices




- Experience with modern development tools and practices including version control systems, continuous integration, and automated testing
- Demonstrated experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Google Cloud
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically about complex technical challenges
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience
- Experience with databases, APIs, and microservices architecture is preferred
- Familiarity with Agile development methodologies is advantageous
