The Royal Melbourne Golf Club is one of the leading golf clubs in Australia, featuring two of the world's finest golf courses. The Club has been host to numerous national and international tournaments and we have a proud reputation of providing Members and guests with a friendly, welcoming and inclusive experience. The Club also operates the neighbouring Sandy Golf Links, one of Melbourne's best public golf facilities.

About the role

We are seeking an experienced HR Manager to join The Royal Melbourne Golf Club on a part time (or full-time) basis in Black Rock, VIC. This role is pivotal to the success of both The Royal Melbourne Golf Club and Sandy Golf Links, overseeing all human resources functions and ensuring our team operates at its best. As HR Manager, you will be responsible for developing and implementing HR strategies that align with our club's values and objectives, whilst providing strategic guidance to our leadership team and support to our staff members. This is a standalone role, reporting to the General Manager. The role is advertised as 3 days per week, however the scope of the role can be expanded to four days or full time for the right candidate .

What you'll be doing

- Developing and implementing comprehensive HR strategies and policies that align with the club's values and business objectives
- Managing the full employee lifecycle, including recruitment, onboarding, performance management, and offboarding processes
- Overseeing employee benefits, leave management and payroll compliance (payroll processing sits with Finance).




- Providing confidential HR advice and support to employees and management on matters including workplace relations, grievance handling and disciplinary procedures
- Conducting training needs analyses and coordinating professional development programmes for staff members
- Maintaining accurate HR records and documentation whilst ensuring compliance with privacy legislation and data protection requirements
- Fostering a positive workplace culture that reflects the club's commitment to inclusion, respect and engagement
- Support workplace health and safety, employee wellbeing and return-to-work matters.
- Liaising with external stakeholders, including legal advisors and statutory bodies, on employment law matters

What we're looking for

- Tertiary qualification in Human Resources, Business Administration or a related discipline
- Minimum of 3-5 years' professional experience in a HR generalist or HR consulting role, preferably within a hospitality, membership-based or service-oriented organisation
- Strong knowledge of Australian employment law, workplace relations and award interpretation and application (Experience with the Registered and Licensed Clubs award and Amusements, Events and Recreation Award would be advantageous)




- Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing HR policies, procedures and best practice frameworks
- Proficiency with HR management systems and Microsoft Office applications (Employment Hero and KeyPay desirable)
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage effectively with staff at all levels
- Strong problem-solving abilities and the capacity to manage sensitive workplace issues with discretion and professionalism
- Experience in recruitment and selection, including job analysis, advertising and interview coordination
- Knowledge of training and development methodologies with the ability to identify and deliver learning solutions
- Proven organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities within the part-time framework
- Professional HR credentials such as membership with AHRI (Australian Human Resources Institute) would be advantageous
