We're looking for a capable and detail orientated Accountant to join our Finance team and work closely with our Head of Finance. This is a broad, hands‑on role ideal for someone who enjoys owning financial processes, improving systems, and supporting business decision‑making in a growing international business.
The role:
Reporting to the Head of Finance, the Accountant will be responsible for maintaining the integrity of Moveware's financial records, preparing financial and management reports, supporting budgeting and statutory compliance activities, maintaining internal controls, and providing financial analysis to assist management decision‑making.
The position will also support the effective operation and continuous improvement of the company’s accounting systems, financial processes and reporting workflows.
This is a hybrid role requiring 4 days at our inner South East Melbourne office.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare financial statements, monthly financial and management reports, budgets, forecasts and financial analysis to support business decision‑making.
- Maintain accurate accounting records, including general ledger, intercompany transactions and supporting financial documentation.
- Perform bank, balance sheet and intercompany reconciliations, and investigate financial discrepancies and variances.
- Analyse financial performance, cash flow and expenditure trends,
and provide recommendations to management.
- Prepare and support GST, taxation, payroll, superannuation and other statutory compliance and reporting obligations.
- Assist with audit activities and maintain compliance with accounting standards, company policies and internal controls.
- Maintain fixed asset records and ensure financial information is accurately classified and reported.
- Support the implementation, maintenance and improvement of accounting systems, financial processes and reporting workflows.
- Oversee invoicing, accounts receivable, accounts payable and revenue recognition activities to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial records.
- Liaise with management, customers, suppliers and other stakeholders regarding financial reporting, compliance matters and account reconciliations.
About You
To be considered for this role, you will have:
- A bachelor’s degree or higher in Accounting, Commerce, Finance or a closely related discipline.
- A minimum of two years of relevant professional accounting experience, including experience in financial reporting, budgeting, taxation compliance and financial analysis.
- Demonstrated experience preparing financial reports, reconciliations, journals and month‑end accounting information.
- Sound knowledge of accounting principles, internal financial controls and statutory compliance requirements.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills,
with the ability to investigate discrepancies and provide clear recommendations.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills and confidence working with computer‑based accounting systems.
- A high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- The ability to work autonomously, manage competing priorities and meet reporting deadlines.
- The ability to communicate effectively with internal stakeholders, customers, suppliers and external service providers.
- Experience working in a software, technology, multi‑entity, international or small‑to‑medium business environment will be highly regarded.
