About the Opportunity
An exciting opportunity is available for a Casual Registered Nurse to join the friendly and supportive team at Cessnock Community Health.
Part of Hunter New England Local Health District, Cessnock Community Health provides a range of community-based nursing services to individuals and families across the Cessnock region. Our team delivers patient-centred care both in the clinic and within people's homes, helping clients remain safe, independent and well within their community. Our services include simple and complex wound care, IV medication administration, catheter care and management, PICC and Port-a-Cath care, immunisation and ongoing health support.
Located in the heart of the Hunter Valley, Cessnock Community Health supports a diverse rural and semi-rural community. You will work closely with GPs, allied health professionals and other service providers to deliver coordinated and holistic care.
You'll join a workplace where teamwork, open communication and mutual respect are genuinely valued. While the role provides the autonomy to work independently in the community, you'll be part of a connected team that encourages collaboration, shared decision-making and ongoing professional development.
What You Will Be Doing
Reporting to the Nurse Unit Manager, you will provide high-quality, person-centred nursing care across both clinic and home settings.
You will:
- Conduct comprehensive nursing assessments and develop care in partnership with clients.
- Provide simple and complex wound assessment and management.
- Provide catheter care and management.
- Administer medications, including IV medications within your scope of practice.
- Provide PICC and Port-a-Cath care.
- Support immunisation and health promotion activities.
- Provide education and support to clients and their families to promote health, independence and self-management.
- Work autonomously while maintaining strong connections with the broader multidisciplinary team.
- Communicate and collaborate with GPs, allied health professionals and other service providers to support coordinated care.
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation.
- Recognise and respond appropriately to changes in a client's condition.
- Contribute to a safe, supportive and positive team environment.
As a casual position, shifts will vary according to service needs, providing flexibility while offering the opportunity to build valuable experience in community nursing.
