Join a highly established multidisciplinary allied health organisation with a strong reputation across the Illawarra, excellent staff retention and a genuinely connected team culture.
This is an opportunity for an Occupational Therapist to continue working clinically while becoming a trusted senior support for junior OTs, helping them build confidence, clinical reasoning and long-term careers.
- $100,000 - $115,000 + Super
- Highly Flexible Working Around Family & Life Commitments
- Established OT Team with Junior Clinicians to Mentor
- Large MDT of 20+ Allied Health & Operational Staff
- Robust Staff Retention & Genuine Team Connection
This organisation has built its culture around a simple principle: support good people properly and give them reasons to stay. The role is available to to waitlists and expansion not because this is a replacement.
The team collaborates closely, celebrates milestones together, regularly gets together outside of work and has created an environment where clinicians genuinely know and support one another.
From birthday celebrations and Friday team catch-ups to BBQs, pizza nights, coffee carts, creative team events and Christmas celebrations, there is a strong sense of connection across the wider organisation.
Why You'll Love this Role
- Strong Staff Retention: Join an organisation where clinicians build long-term careers rather than constantly cycling through the team.
- Mentor Junior OTs: Become a senior clinical point of support for developing Occupational Therapists and help them strengthen their confidence, reasoning and practical skills.
- Highly Flexible Working: Manage your schedule around family, personal commitments and life outside of work, with genuine autonomy over how you structure your week.
- Huge Team Collaboration: Work alongside approximately 40 staff across Occupational Therapy, Speech Pathology, Physiotherapy, Exercise Physiology and other allied health disciplines.
- A Team That Actually Connects: Regular team outings, birthday celebrations, Friday meetings and social events create a workplace where people genuinely know each other.
- Strong Admin Support: A dedicated operational and administration team manages scheduling, enquiries, service agreements and family communication so clinicians can focus on therapy.
- Leadership Development:
Receive structured support from experienced operational and people leaders as you grow your mentoring and leadership responsibilities.
- Hybrid Working: Combine clinic, community and work-from-home flexibility depending on your caseload and preferences.
- Purpose-Built Clinical Spaces: Work from modern clinic environments with dedicated sensory and therapy spaces.
The Senior OT Opportunity
The Occupational Therapy team is already established and is looking for an experienced clinician who enjoys supporting others.
You won't be expected to step into a detached management position.
Instead, you'll remain clinically involved while gradually becoming a key source of support for junior OTs through:
- Clinical mentoring and case discussions
- Supporting assessment interpretation and clinical reasoning
- Helping clinicians work through complex presentations
- Providing guidance around intervention planning
- Supporting junior clinicians with families and challenging situations
- Contributing to team development and service improvement
- Helping build a positive, collaborative OT culture
There is also scope to become more involved in recruitment, onboarding and broader clinical leadership as the service continues to grow.
Your Caseload
You'll predominantly support children aged 0-12 years, with some clients up to 18.
Presentations may include:
- Autism
- ADHD
- Developmental delay
- Trauma
- Behavioural presentations
- Emotional and sensory regulation needs
- Functional and participation challenges
You'll work across a mix of clinic and community settings, with flexibility to complete appropriate work from home.
The wider organisation also operates another allied health service supporting clients across the lifespan, creating future opportunities to diversify into adult Occupational Therapy if that interests you.
A Culture Built Around People
One of the biggest differences here is the level of connection across the team.
This is a workplace where people:
- Celebrate birthdays and personal milestones
- Catch up regularly as a wider team
- Collaborate rather than operate in silos
- Attend social events throughout the year
- Have access to senior clinicians and leadership when they need support
- Are trusted to manage their workload around life outside of work
The organisation understands that many clinicians are also parents or have significant commitments outside of work, so flexibility is built into the way the team operates rather than treated as an exception.
Set Up to Succeed
Even as an experienced clinician, you'll receive a highly structured introduction to the organisation, including:
- Comprehensive one-week induction
- Clear onboarding checklist
- Online learning resources
- Shadowing opportunities
- Gradual caseload build
- Weekly supervision
- Ongoing leadership and operational support
About the Wider Team
You'll be joining a multidisciplinary organisation of approximately 30 staff, including:
- Occupational Therapists
- Speech Pathologists
- Physiotherapists
- Exercise Physiologists
- Osteopaths
- Remedial Massage Therapists
- Allied Health Assistants
- Dedicated operational and administration staff
This creates plenty of opportunity for informal consultation, shared problem-solving and multidisciplinary collaboration.
You don't need to already hold a formal Team Leader title.
What matters most is that you're clinically confident, approachable and genuinely enjoy helping less experienced OTs develop.
Why Consider This Role?
Because this isn't just about stepping into a more senior title.
It's an opportunity to join an organisation with strong staff retention, genuine flexibility, excellent operational support and a team that actually enjoys working together.
If you're looking for a role where you can continue doing the clinical work you enjoy while supporting the next generation of OTs, this could be an excellent next step.
