Forrestania Resources (ASX: FRS) is embarking on the exciting restart of the Edna May Gold Operation in Western Australia. As we transition from care and maintenance back to full-scale operations, we are seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Metallurgist to play a critical role in rebuilding plant performance, systems, and culture from the ground up.
This is a rare opportunity to join a site and company at the beginning of its next chapter. We are looking for a hands-on metallurgist who thrives in a start-up environment, enjoys ownership and accountability, and is excited by the challenge of establishing a high-performing processing operation.
About the Role
Reporting to the Processing Manager, the Senior Metallurgist will lead the metallurgical function through commissioning, ramp-up and steady-state operations. You will be instrumental in developing processes, systems, reporting frameworks and optimisation strategies while supporting the safe and efficient restart of the processing plant.
This role offers significant exposure to all aspects of plant performance and provides the opportunity to make a lasting impact on the success of the Edna May restart.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead metallurgical support for plant restart, commissioning and ramp-up activities.
- Develop and implement metallurgical accounting, reconciliation and reporting systems.
- Monitor and optimise plant performance, recovery, throughput and reagent consumption.
- Establish process control strategies and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Conduct process investigations and troubleshooting to maximise plant efficiency.
- Work closely with Operations, Maintenance and Technical Services teams to achieve production objectives.
- Manage metallurgical test work programs and liaise with external laboratories and consultants.
- Mentor and develop graduate and operational personnel as the team grows.
- Ensure compliance with company safety, environmental and quality standards.
About You
You are an experienced metallurgist who enjoys solving problems, taking initiative and operating with a high degree of autonomy. You are equally comfortable developing systems and processes as you are rolling up your sleeves and working directly with the plant team.
To be successful, you will have:
- Tertiary qualifications in Metallurgy, Minerals Processing, Chemical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Demonstrated experience in gold processing operations.
- Previous experience in plant commissioning, restart, ramp-up or major operational improvement projects.
- Strong understanding of crushing, grinding, gravity recovery, CIL/CIP and gold recovery processes.
- Proven ability to analyse plant data and identify optimisation opportunities.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- A practical, hands-on approach and the ability to work effectively in a energetic environment.
- The ability to work independently and build systems, processes and teams from the ground up.
Why Join Forrestania Resources?
- Be part of a significant gold plant restart project from day one.
- Make a genuine impact on operational performance and business success.
- Enjoy a collaborative and entrepreneurial culture where initiative is valued.
- Competitive remuneration package.
- FIFO roster of 8 days on, 6 days off from Perth.
- Long-term growth opportunities as the operation transitions into steady-state production.
