Senior Cisco Network Engineer (Meraki & Webex)
A large national business with a footprint of sites across Australia. They're replacing ageing network and voice infrastructure with a modern Cisco stack, starting with around 25 sites, and they're investing in getting it done properly.
About the role
A senior contract engineering role on a major network and communications uplift, reporting to the Network & Communications Manager. You'll move sites off legacy switching, Wi-Fi and voice onto Cisco Meraki and Webex Calling, while carrying a share of BAU across the core network. Hands on, with real design input.
Duties / Key responsibilities
- Design, deploy and support Meraki switching, Wi-Fi and MV cameras through the Dashboard, including templates, VLANs, firewall policy and site-to-site VPN
- Migrate internal calling onto Webex Calling, including dial plans, SIP trunks and voice gateways
- Audit existing site infrastructure to define scope for each migration
- Plan and run cutovers across multiple sites, with some travel
- Troubleshoot voice quality, call routing, codec and connectivity issues
- Own HLD, LLD and as-built documentation across network, CCTV and telephony
- Lead incident management and root cause analysis across network, voice and CCTV
- Mentor the junior engineers on the programme
Who you are
You're a network engineer first. Meraki is something you've designed and built at scale, not something you've logged into a few times. You know what's going on underneath the Dashboard.
You've also done real voice work. Webex Calling ideally, and you're comfortable working through a dial plan or chasing down a SIP trunk issue.
You can walk into a comms room nobody has documented in years, work out what's there and leave it in better shape.
You can carry project work and BAU at the same time without either slipping, and you're happy to bring a less experienced engineer along with you.
Advantages
- Ownership of a large multi-site Meraki and Webex rollout
- Network, voice and CCTV on one programme, which is a rare mix
- Latest-generation Meraki hardware, including MV cameras
- Hybrid working with around three days on site
- A manager who's flexible on hours and gets the realities of life outside work
- Further phases planned beyond the initial sites
Skills and experience
- Deep hands-on experience with latest-generation Cisco Meraki in a large multi-site enterprise
- Strong Cisco Catalyst switching and wireless experience
- Hands-on Webex Calling experience
- Dial plans, SIP trunks and voice gateway configuration in a large enterprise
- Solid routing and switching fundamentals (BGP, OSPF, VLANs, QoS)
- CCNP Enterprise or CCNP Collaboration (CCIE welcome), plus Meraki certification
- Meraki MV or other enterprise CCTV experience
- Exposure to CUCM, Expressway, CUBE or Unity Connection
- Experience mentoring other engineers
