About the role

The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for civil construction projects from tender stage through to project award. The role involves reviewing drawings and specifications, completing quantity take-offs, obtaining subcontractor and supplier pricing, assessing project risks, and developing detailed tender submissions.

Key responsibilities

- Review tender documentation, construction drawings, specifications, schedules and scope of works.

- Prepare detailed quantity take-offs and cost estimates for labour, materials, plant, subcontractors and equipment.

- Develop estimates for civil works including earthworks, drainage, underground services, roads, pavements, concrete works and associated infrastructure.

- Obtain and evaluate quotations from subcontractors and suppliers.

- Prepare requests for quotations and clearly define subcontractor and supplier scopes.

- Develop construction methodologies and determine appropriate labour and equipment requirements.

- Calculate production rates and assess project durations and resource requirements.

- Prepare tender pricing schedules,



bills of quantities and cost breakdowns.

- Identify project risks, opportunities, exclusions, qualifications and potential cost impacts.

- Attend site inspections and pre-tender meetings to assess site conditions and construction constraints.

About you

- Experience in civil construction estimating or a related civil construction role essential.

- Strong understanding of civil construction methodologies, materials, plant and productivity rates.

- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications and tender documentation.

- Strong quantity take-off and cost-analysis skills.

- Experience obtaining and analysing subcontractor and supplier quotations.

- Good commercial awareness and understanding of construction contracts.

- Strong numerical, analytical and problem-solving abilities.

- High attention to detail and ability to work accurately under tender deadlines.

- Solid communication, negotiation and stakeholder-management skills.

- Competency with estimating/take-off software.
