Fishing Vessels | Fremantle possibly also Henderson
We are looking for an experienced Marine Mechanical Fitters to work on fishing vessels while they are in dock.
This is a hands-on role involving scheduled servicing and maintenance, breakdown assessment and mechanical fault finding.
The Role
Working across a range of fishing vessels, you will be responsible for:
Scheduled servicing and preventative maintenance
Scheduled mechanical maintenance and repairs
Breakdown assessment, diagnostics and fault finding
Mechanical repairs and fitting work
Working on pumps, winches, gearboxes and associated mechanical equipment
Identifying faults and determining the best method of repair
Stripping, inspecting, repairing and refitting mechanical components
Assisting with general vessel maintenance as required
Working safely and efficiently around operating vessels and marine equipment
About You
We are looking for someone who is:
An experienced Mechanical Fitter / Marine Mechanical Fitter
Comfortable working hands-on across different mechanical equipment
Experienced in diagnostics, fault finding and mechanical repairs
Able to work independently and as part of a small team
Versatile and practical, with a willingness to tackle different types of work
Open to learning new equipment, systems and techniques
Reliable, safety-conscious and prepared to get involved
Marine experience would be highly regarded, but we are also interested in experienced mechanical fitters who have solid mechanical fault-finding skills and are keen to develop further within the marine environment.
The Prospect
This is an prospect to work on a variety of commercial fishing vessels, where no two days are necessarily the same. The role will suit someone who enjoys practical mechanical work, solving problems and being involved from diagnosis through to repair. Work till Easter 2027
