High Street Medical Clinic is a long-established, well-resourced general practice in Prahran, with excellent public transport access. With 16 GPs, 5 nurses, 7 reception staff and pathology on site, we are looking for an experienced Assistant Practice Manager to become the 2IC to our Business Manager and support the day-to-day operation of the practice.
We are a stable, close-knit practice that has grown by looking after our patients, doctors and staff well, and we are looking for someone who wants to become a long-term member of the practice.
Essential criteria
You must demonstrate all three:
Minimum 2 years' experience as an Assistant Practice Manager or Practice Manager in general practice

Experience in a private or mixed-billing practice supporting 8 or more GPs

Proficiency in Best Practice

The role
This is a hands-on leadership role. You will be highly visible within the practice, working alongside the reception team, patients and doctors, with dedicated administration time for operational work and projects. You will work closely with an experienced Business Manager and Nurse Coordinator, with an established Senior Receptionist supporting the reception team.
You will be responsible for:




Support day-to-day operations, keeping systems and processess running smoothly

Leading, coaching and supporting the reception team, including onboarding, training and performance management

Assist with rostering, team coordination and support

Act as a point of contact for GP's, staff, and patients, keeping communication transparent and consistent

Support compliance and accreditation requirements

Provide support to the Business Manager on improvement projects and process development/improvement

Step into the Manager role during leave, to keep the clinic running as usual

Operational capability will get you shortlisted. Strong people skills, judgement and leadership will determine whether you succeed in the role.
You will be confident, calm and hands-on, and comfortable with:
Leading a busy reception team

Dealing with competing demands and difficult situations

Showing empathy for patients and a genuine desire to help

Having difficult conversations when required

Taking ownership rather than waiting to be directed
