About the Facility
Roshana Elsternwick Aged Care is a 45‐bed facility in Elsternwick, overlooking Hopetoun Park and close to shops, cafés, cinema and local churches. The purpose‐built home offers comfortable rooms, lounge areas, sensory space, gardens and barbecue area, with 24/7 nursing support.
We are looking for a
Kitchen Hand
to join our aged care team at Elsternwick, in a
(part‐time)
capacity. This will be for
maternity leave cover between the 12th of October **** to the 1st of May ****
. The roster will be as follows for the successful candidate:
Week 1:
Thursday 7:00am -13:30pm and Friday 7:00am -13:30pm.
Week 2:
Thursday 7:00am -13:30pm, Friday 7:00am -13:30pm, Saturday 7:00am -13:30pm and Sunday 7:00am -13:30 pm.
The successful candidate will be required to work these hours and days but will also be required to cover any unscheduled leave at the facility.
About the Role
As a Kitchen Hand, you will play an important role behind the scenes, helping ensure our residents enjoy safe, nutritious, and well‐presented meals every day. Your work will directly support the comfort and wellbeing of those in our care. This is a fast‐paced,
hands‐on role, perfect for someone who enjoys staying active and being part of a supportive team.
What You Will Be Doing
Assist with basic food preparation including washing, peeling, and plating
Support meal service and ensure timely delivery of food to residents
Maintain cleanliness of the kitchen, including dishes, utensils, and equipment
Follow food safety, hygiene, and infection control standards at all times
Assist with stock rotation, storage, and kitchen organisation
Work closely with cooks and chefs to ensure smooth kitchen operations
Help create a clean, safe, and welcoming environment
What You Will Bring
Previous experience in a kitchen or hospitality setting (preferred but not essential)
Willingness to learn and take direction in a fast‐paced environment
Solid work ethic and ability to work as part of a team
Good time management and attention to detail
Positive attitude and reliability
A National Police Clearance or NDIS Screening Check, or willingness to obtain this
Understanding of food safety practices (or willingness to obtain certification)
