The Role n
Reporting to the HSEC Manager, the Health, Safety and Training Superintendent is a key leadership role responsible for driving health and safety leadership, risk management, and workforce training capability across the mining operation. The role ensures compliance with Victorian WHS legislation while embedding a robust safety culture, building team competency, and supporting operational excellence across the site.

Key Responsibilities n
n
Lead the implementation and continuous improvement of the site's Health and Safety Management System,
n
Drive a strong safety culture through visible leadership and workforce engagement.
n
Oversee risk management processes, including hazard identification, critical risk controls, workplace inspections, and safety assurance activities.
n
Lead investigations into significant incidents, injuries, and high-potential events, ensuring root causes are identified and corrective actions effectively implemented.
n
Develop and manage the site's training and competency framework.
n
Oversee occupational health and wellbeing program and health monitoring processes.
n
Coordinate internal and external audits, and ensure timely compliance reporting to regulators, auditors, and internal leadership teams.
n
Maintain and test emergency response plans, and support emergency preparedness across the site.
n
Lead, coach, and mentor a team of Health, Safety, and Training professionals.
n
About You n
n
Diploma or Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Risk Management, or a related discipline.
n
Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE***** or equivalent).
n
Minimum 5-10 years' experience in health, safety, and training leadership within mining, resources, or heavy industry.
n
Strong knowledge of WHS legislation and mining regulations.
n
Demonstrated experience managing safety management systems and leading incident investigations (ICAM, TapRooT, or equivalent).
n
Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and problem‐solving skills.
n
Proven capability to lead, coach, and mentor a multidisciplinary team.
