MacKellar is seeking an experienced Long Term Maintenance Planner to join our maintenance team and play a critical role in the long-term performance and reliability of our heavy mobile equipment fleet.
n
This is an opportunity to move beyond day-to-day scheduling and take ownership of component strategies, maintenance forecasting and long-range planning across a large open-cut mining operation.
n
You'll work closely with site maintenance, reliability and supply teams to ensure component replacements are planned, resourced and executed at the right time — helping minimise unplanned downtime and maximise fleet availability.
The Opportunity n
In this role, you'll be responsible for developing and continuously improving long-term maintenance plans across our HME fleet.
n
Your key responsibilities will include:
n
n
Developing long-range maintenance and component replacement strategies for heavy mining equipment
n
Forecasting upcoming component requirements and coordinating sourcing, procurement and availability
n
Working with site-based planners to align planned component change-outs and work packages with operational requirements
n
Reviewing component life and historical performance to identify opportunities for improved replacement
strategiesMaintaining
accurate equipment records, component histories and long-term maintenance forecasts
n
Reviewing and improving CMMS data, processes and workflows across systems such as JDE
n
Driving continuous improvement across component planning,



maintenance execution and fleet reliability
n
About You n
You'll be a strategic and commercially minded maintenance professional who understands how effective long-term planning translates into equipment availability and operational performance.
n
To be successful, you'll have:
n
n
A Mechanical Trade Certificate and/or Mechanical Engineering qualification
n
Demonstrated experience in a maintenance planning role within open-cut mining
n
Strong understanding of HME maintenance, component change-out strategies and work management processes
n
Experience using CMMS platforms such as SAP, AMT or JDE
n
Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly for planning, reporting and analysis
n
Experience with major mining equipment and OEMs including Caterpillar, Komatsu, Hitachi and/or Liebherr
n
Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with maintenance, reliability, procurement and site teams
n
A proactive approach to identifying risks, improving processes and optimising equipment performance
n
n
Experience with diagnostic and OEM systems such as CAT SIS, Cummins INSITE or Liebherr LIDOS will be highly regarded.
