Maxima's client, a well-known local Council are seeking an experienced Local Laws Officer for an assignment based out of Tewantin. You will be a part of a rostered work pattern across any 5 out of 7 days which may include regular weekend and out-of-hours work with a casual hourly pay of $***** + super.
n
This role with see you provide customer focused enforcement of Council's Local Laws and policies and relevant State legislation with an emphasis on information, education and self-regulation.
Key Responsibilities n
n
Investigate and resolve complaints, including the serving of notices to seek compliance with Council's
n Local Laws, State Acts and Regulations and other legislation relevant to the position
n
Deliver education programs to the community relative to a regulatory environment, focusing on
n community safety, awareness and responsible pet ownership
n
Understand and enforce according to Council's impound procedures in relation to Local Laws, State
n Acts and Regulations and other legislative requirements
n
Maintain and update records relevant to the position to ensure information and knowledge is current
n and accurate
n
Act as an ambassador for Council during interactions with the community and provide accurate and
n timely information and advice regarding relevant local law matters
n
Make timely enquiries and gather evidence for the prosecution of offences against Council's Local
n Laws, State Acts and Regulations and other legislation relevant to the position,
issue and serve
n infringement notices and appear for Council as a witness in court
n
Undertake patrols of beaches, parks, reserves, roads and other Council controlled land for breaches
n of local laws and take action to resolve those breaches in accordance with Council policy
n
Skills, knowledge and experienced required n
n
Demonstrated knowledge required to undertake complex investigations, relevant to a regulatory environment
n
Sound knowledge, or the ability to rapidly acquire knowledge of Councils local laws, policies and procedures and other relevant State legislation
n
The physical ability to undertake local laws duties
n
Proven ability to work as an effective, positive team member in a high performing customer focused regulatory workplace
n
Proven ability to deliver accurate and timely customer service, exercising sound judgment, decision
n making and initiative
n
Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to effectively liaise with members of the public, community groups and businesses and build effective relationships
n
Sound time management, work prioritisation and organisational skills with the proven capacity to work with limited supervision
n
Sound research, analysis and problem-solving skills
n
Qualifications, training and licenses required n
n
Current drivers licence "C" Class
n
Current National Police Clearance or willing to obtain
n
Diploma in Government (Investigation) or similar qualifications
n
