Youth Worker or Disability Support Worker – Complex Behaviours n
We are seeking a
patient, confident and experienced Disability Support Worker
to support an 11-year-old boy living with the impacts of a severe Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), ADHD, ODD and PTSD.
n
This is a rewarding opportunity for a Support Worker who enjoys working with children and can build a
strong, positive relationship
while providing consistent support with emotional regulation, routines, community access and daily activities.
n
The successful candidate will be someone who can remain calm and composed during challenging situations and understands that behaviour is often a form of communication.
Key Responsibilities n
n
n
Build a
positive and trusting relationship
with Atticus.
n
n
Follow Atticus's
Positive Behaviour Support Plan, routines and visual schedules
consistently.
n
n
Support
emotional regulation
and recognise early signs of escalation.
n
n
Respond calmly and confidently to
challenging behaviours, aggression and meltdowns
.
n
n
Use




positive reinforcement, clear boundaries and choices
to encourage appropriate behaviour.
n
n
Provide
close supervision to maintain safety
, including during community access and around other children.
n
n
Supervise
internet, device and screen use
in line with his safety plan.
n
n
Support appropriate
personal boundaries and social interactions
.
n
n
Maintain transparent communication with the
care team
and report incidents or concerns.
n
About you: n
n
n
Experience supporting children/young people with complex behaviours
n
n
Calm, patient and confident managing challenging behaviours
n
n
Strong understanding of positive behaviour support
n
n
Reliable and consistent
n
Essential Requirements: n
n
n
Certificate III/IV in Disability, Individual Support or Community Services
n
n
Current WWCC, NDIS Worker Screening, First Aid & CPR, Police Check
n
n
Driver's licence, reliable vehicle and comprehensive insurance
n
n
