Our Family Respite is looking for an enthusiastic and reliable Disability Support Worker to join a small, consistent team supporting an 18-year-old young man on the Central Coast.

This is a rewarding 1:1 support role focused on building independence, daily living skills and community participation.

About the Participant n
n
He is a fun, energetic young man who lives independently. He likes getting out of the house, technology, bikes, shopping, going for drives, fitness activities, community outings and working towards greater independence.
n
He responds best to support workers who are calm, easy-going, engaging and able to build genuine rapport while maintaining clear expectations and routine.
What a Typical Shift Looks Like n
n
n
n
Supporting daily living and independent living skills
n
n
Assisting with meal planning, shopping and simple cooking
n
n
Encouraging household tasks such as cleaning, laundry and organisation
n
n
Supporting community access and social participation
n
n
Walking, bike rides, exercise or other recreational activities
n
n
Providing structure, motivation and positive role modelling
n
n
Monitoring and documenting support outcomes
n
n
No personal care is required.
What We Are Looking For n
n
We are seeking someone who:
n
n
n
Is energetic, proactive and enjoys working alongside young people
n
n
Has excellent communication skills and speaks clear English
n
n
Is confident supporting community access and daily living activities
n
n
Can build rapport while maintaining professional boundaries
n
n
Is reliable, organised and consistent
n
n
Is physically capable of participating in community-based activities
n
n
Has a current driver's licence and reliable vehicle
n
n
Holds (or can obtain) an NDIS Worker Check and Working With Children Check
n
n
Previous disability support experience is highly regarded, however attitude, reliability and the ability to connect with participants are equally important.
Hours n
n
n
n
Approximately 2 x 3 hour shifts per week (timing flexible)
n
n
Prospect for additional shifts as supports grow
n
n
Flexible scheduling by mutual agreement
n
