Job Description

We are looking for an experienced and safety-focused Drill & Blast Supervisor to oversee our Drill and Blast team.
You will play a key leadership role in supervising and coordinating the safe, efficient and compliant execution of drill and blast activities across the mine operation.
n
The role provides an opportunity to lead a high-performing team, contribute directly to production outcomes and drive continuous improvement in safety, blast quality and operational performance.
Key Responsibilities Include: n
Execute daily and weekly drill and blast plans, identifying any constraints or deviations that may affect production.
n
Ensure drill patterns, blast layouts and charging activities are completed safely, accurately and efficiently.
n
Oversee explosive management, including secure storage, handling and compliance with all relevant regulations.
n
Manage key relationships with Site Management personnel and client liaison.
n
Lead by example in our safety culture, completing safety observations and critical control audits.
n
Manage, investigate and report all drill-and-blast-related incidents, applying corrective actions within your area of responsibility.
n
Conduct pre-blast inspections and ensure statutory and company requirements are adhered to.
n
Provide guidance, coaching and support to drill and blast operators, ensuring competencies are maintained and responsibilities understood.
n
Attend daily production meetings and provide accurate summaries of drill and blast performance over the previous 24 hours.
n
Work closely with Mining,



Technical Services and Drill & Blast teams to ensure effective planning, communication and execution.
About You n
Minimum 5 years' proven experience across
both drilling and blasting
operations in an open-cut mining environment — candidates with blast-only or drill-only backgrounds will not be considered.
n
Previous experience supervising and leading high performing Drill and Blast crews.
n
Current Open C Class Driver's Licence.
n
Standard 11 or able to obtain.
n
S1, S2, S3 and G2 Supervisor Competencies (or ability to obtain).
n
Current Queensland Shotfirer's Licence (or ability to obtain).
n
Current Queensland Explosives Security Clearance (or ability to obtain).
n
Current Queensland Coal Board Medical (or able to complete).
n
Able to pass additional pre-employment medicals and functional as required.
n
Solid understanding of drill patterns, blasting techniques, explosive management and regulatory requirements.
n
Strong organisational, communication and presentation skills with the confidence to liaise with stakeholders at all levels.
n
Ability to prioritise, troubleshoot and make effective decisions under pressure.
