Job Description
Senior Property Lawyer About the Role: n
An established corporate and commercial law firm in Perth, Western Australia is seeking an experienced Senior Property Lawyer to join its growing Property & Commercial practice.
n
This is an excellent opportunity for a senior property lawyer looking for greater autonomy, meaningful client relationships, and a clear pathway for long-term career progression. The successful candidate will manage their own matters from start to finish while advising a diverse client base on sophisticated property and commercial transactions.
n
The role offers exposure to complex and varied matters, direct interaction with senior leadership, and the opportunity to mentor junior lawyers while continuing to develop a strong individual practice.
Key Responsibilities: n
n
Manage property and general commercial matters independently from inception through completion.
n
Draft and negotiate contracts for the sale and acquisition of land.
n
Draft, review, and negotiate commercial, retail, and other leasing documentation.
n
Manage property sales and acquisitions, including due diligence, negotiations, and completion.
n
Advise clients on property development matters and related regulatory requirements.
n
Advise on matters involving the Strata Titles Act, Duties Act, Contaminated Sites Act, and Personal Property Securities Act.
n
Handle land title and land use matters, including drafting and registering easements and restrictive covenants.
n
Draft and negotiate general commercial agreements, including sale of business, sale of shares, finance, and securities documentation.
n
Provide practical, commercially focused legal advice tailored to client objectives.
n
Build and maintain strong, long-term client relationships.
n
Mentor and supervise junior lawyers while supporting the wider legal team.
n
Work closely with directors and colleagues on complex transactions and client matters.
n
Manage competing priorities, deadlines, and client expectations while maintaining high standards of legal work.
n
Required Qualifications: n
n
J.D. or equivalent Australian law degree.
n
Admission to practice law in Western Australia.
n
Minimum 5 years of post-admission experience in property and general commercial law.
n
Strong experience managing property transactions and matters independently.
n
Demonstrated experience with property sales and acquisitions, leasing, development, and land title matters.
n
Experience drafting and negotiating commercial contracts, including sale of business, sale of shares, finance, and securities documents.
n
Working knowledge of relevant Western Australian property legislation and regulatory requirements.
n
Hands-on experience with PEXA and Revenue Online.
n
Strong legal research, analytical, drafting, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
n
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to build trusted client relationships.
n
Strong commercial judgment and the ability to provide practical, outcome-focused legal advice.
n
Excellent attention to detail and ability to deliver high-quality work under pressure.
n
Ability to manage multiple matters independently while working collaboratively with a broader legal team.
n
Experience mentoring or supervising junior lawyers.
