Aged care worker supporting older people in their homes or residential settings. Duties include personal care tasks such as bathing, dressing, grooming, meal preparation, medication prompting, light housekeeping, transportation to appointments, and building trusted relationships with clients and families.
Work Settings
Provide care for clients funded through Home Care Packages, Support at Home, or NDIS. Work can be in‑home or residential, with shifts varying from morning to weekend to align with clients’ needs.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver personal care (bathing, dressing, grooming) and assist with mobility, transfers and fall prevention.
Prepare and serve meals and manage medication prompting and care‑note documentation.
Perform light household tasks and transport clients to appointments or activities.
Build and maintain trust with clients and families, adapting to individual routines and preferences.
Required Qualifications & Credentials
Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing) or a comparable qualification.
Current National Police Check; for NDIS‑funded clients, an NDIS Worker Screening Check.
Current First Aid certificate and manual handling training.
Reliable transport and current Australian driver’s licence.
Robust communication skills and ability to work adaptable shifts.
Pay & Perks
Weekday: $33–$37 per hour (regulated under Aged Care Award).
Saturday: $49–$56 per hour.
Sunday: $57–$65 per hour.
Public holiday: $82–$93 per hour.
Casual employees receive a 25% loading.
