The Opportunity
Australian Industry Group Apprentice and Trainee Centre, in partnership with
Orora
, is seeking a
motivated Mechanical Fitter Apprentice
to join the maintenance team at their Dandenong South facility. This is an excellent chance to complete a
Certificate III in Engineering - Mechanical Trade
while gaining hands-on experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. You will work alongside skilled tradespeople, learning the practical and technical skills required to become a qualified Mechanical Fitter. As an apprentice, you will gain exposure to preventative maintenance, breakdown repairs, fault finding, equipment servicing, technical drawing interpretation, and modern manufacturing systems.

Key Responsibilities
Assist with preventative maintenance on production equipment
Service, repair and maintain manufacturing machinery
Support fault finding and troubleshooting activities
Learn to interpret technical drawings and engineering plans
Use hand and power tools safely and effectively
Perform measurements using precision instruments
Follow workplace health and safety procedures
Work collaboratively within the maintenance team
Maintain a clean and safe work environment
About You
Passionate about engineering and hands-on work
Strong mechanical aptitude
Reliable, punctual and eager to learn
Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Commitment to workplace safety
Ability to work effectively in a team environment
Completed Year 10 or equivalent
Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident with full working rights
Current driver's licence desirable but not essential
