OVERVIEW The Student Services Advisor supports the delivery of student and academic administration services for students at Charles Sturt University Sydney and Melbourne campuses operated by Navitas.
This role focuses on ensuring productive, effective, and compliant administration processes throughout the student lifecycle while maintaining alignment with Charles Sturt University policies, procedures, and government regulations.
The position also works closely with internal stakeholders across Navitas and the University to support a positive student experience, particularly for international students.
Key responsibilities
Coordinate and deliver student administration services across the student lifecycle in accordance with relevant government policies and procedures between campuses
Provide guidance, assistance, and accurate advice to the Student and Academic Services team and other stakeholders regarding student enrolments, requests, and timetabling
Manage changes to student enrolments, including deferrals, reduction of study load, withdrawals, and release to another provider
Manage the issuing and reporting process of Notice of Intention to report for non-enrolments, non-payments, and non-engagement for international students, including processing and reviewing outcomes
Review, process, and respond to complex student enquiries in collaboration with stakeholders across Charles Sturt University and Navitas teams
Maintain knowledge of ESOS, National Code, CSU policies, procedures,
and regulations to provide accurate advice to students and staff
Ensure compliance with agreements between Charles Sturt University and Navitas, with a focus on student-related policies and procedures
Contribute to the management of key relationships with administration staff and other functional areas across Navitas, the campus, and the University
Requirements
Completion of secondary qualifications and relevant work experience
Experience in student administration or student services within the tertiary or higher education sector
Empathy for and experience working with international students
Demonstrated initiative and problem-solving skills
Strong interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills
Ability to build and maintain effective business relationships and professional networks
Excellent attention to detail
Sound knowledge of equal opportunity, equity, and workplace health and safety principles
Ability to implement workplace health and safety and equity principles at strategic and/or operational levels
Knowledge of ESOS, the National Code, and higher education compliance frameworks WHY THIS ROLE MATTERS Student services professionals play an important role in helping students successfully navigate their academic journey, particularly in international education environments where compliance, communication, and student support are closely connected.
This role contributes to maintaining high standards of student administration while supporting a student-centred learning environment across multiple campuses.
The position also supports collaboration between Navitas and Charles Sturt University, helping ensure students receive accurate advice, timely administrative support, and consistent service delivery throughout their studies.
