NLA Logistics is looking for an experienced Heavy Vehicle Mechanic to join our team in Epping
n
This is a great opportunity for a qualified mechanic who is ready to step away from being on the tools full-time while still using their mechanical knowledge and experience every day.
n
The role will be approximately
60% truck inspections and compliance checks and 40% mechanical work on our own fleet
.
About the Role n
A major part of this position will involve inspecting trucks to ensure they meet NLA Logistics' safety, compliance and site requirements before being allocated to major construction projects across Victoria.
n
You will also assist with servicing, repairs and preventative maintenance across our company-owned truck fleet.
n
Your responsibilities will include:
n
n
n
Conducting detailed truck and trailer safety inspections
n
n
Completing pre-engagement and yearly compliance inspections on subcontractor vehicles
n
n
Identifying mechanical defects, safety concerns and maintenance requirements
n
n
Ensuring vehicles meet NLA, NHVR and project-specific requirements
n
n
Checking tyres, brakes, lights, suspension, wheel nuts and other safety-critical components
n
n
Checking site-specific safety equipment including alarms, cameras, fire extinguishers, underrun protection and other required equipment
n
n
Recording inspection results and defects accurately
n
n
Communicating required repairs or rectification works to drivers and subcontractors
n
n
Carrying out servicing,
preventative maintenance and repairs on NLA's own fleet, mostly brand new trucks so major repairs will be repaired by the dealer.

Diagnosing mechanical faults and completing repairs where required
n
n
Assisting with maintaining service schedules and vehicle maintenance records
n
n
Working closely with our Safety & Compliance and Operations teams to keep our fleet safe and compliant
n
About You n
We are looking for someone who has strong mechanical knowledge but is interested in moving into a role that is not 100% workshop based.
n
To be successful you will ideally have:
n
n
n
Trade qualification as a Heavy Vehicle / Diesel Mechanic
n
n
Strong experience working with trucks, trailers and heavy vehicles
n
n
Excellent knowledge of vehicle safety and roadworthiness requirements
n
n
Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills
n
n
A high attention to detail
n
n
Good communication skills and the confidence to identify and report defects
n
n
Ability to complete inspection paperwork and electronic records accurately
n
n
Understanding of NHVR and heavy vehicle compliance requirements
n
n
Current driver's licence
n
n
Heavy Combination licence highly regarded
n
n
Previous truck inspection, roadworthy or fleet maintenance experience highly regarded
