This is an influential operational leadership role focused on shaping the systems, partnerships and conditions that influence health, wellbeing and equity across our community.
Leading a team of six Community Strengthening Officers, you will champion a whole-of-Council approach to health equity, prevention, inclusion and wellbeing, using Council's influence and relationships to strengthen service systems, build capacity, support coordinated responses and drive practical systems change.
You will lead the team's contribution to the Municipal Public Health and Wellbeing Plan, Disability Action Plan, Connected Communities Strategy and other priorities within Council's Integrated Planning Framework.
You will lead a team that guides Council's disability planning and projects, providing specialist advice and ensuring legislative responsibilities are met.
Across a diverse portfolio, you will build partnerships, strengthen prevention and early intervention, and support coordinated action that addresses the social and structural factors contributing to health inequity.
The part you will play
As part of the Community Strengthening Department, you will lead a diverse and agile portfolio spanning disability, gender equity, prevention of violence against women, homelessness and housing, LGBTQIA+ inclusion, gambling harm minimisation, financial vulnerability, food insecurity, healthy eating, and community participation and leadership.
You will:
Lead and develop a team of six, creating a supportive, collaborative and accountable culture focused on delivering strategic and prevention-focused outcomes.
Drive Council's **** prioritiesand lead the development and implementation of key health, wellbeing, equity and disability plans within Council's Integrated Planning Framework.
Provide specialist advice and influence across Councilon social determinants of health, prevention, equity, inclusion and systems change.




Strengthen the local service systemby leveraging Council's role and influence to build capacity, improve coordination and support more integrated responses to emerging and complex community needs.
Build purposeful partnershipsacross government, health, community and service sectors to drive coordinated approaches, shared outcomes, prevention and early intervention.
Champion good governance and legislative practice, ensuring Council meets its responsibilities across disability, gender equality, public health and other relevant policy and legislative requirements.

The total remuneration package is Band 7- Salary $110,873 + Super + Flexible Working
This is a full-time role and provides a monthly or fortnightly RDO for full-time staff– your choice!
