**The Role**We are seeking an experienced and people-focused **National Payroll Manager** to join our team based in Parramatta.Reporting to the **National Payroll Process Owner**, you will lead the delivery of accurate, compliant, and efficient payroll services across Heidelberg Materials Australia.
Managing a team of **7 direct reports**, you will provide strategic leadership, operational oversight, and continuous improvement of payroll processes to support a large and geographically dispersed workforce.This role is ideally suited to a seasoned payroll leader with strong SAP expertise, exceptional stakeholder management capabilities, and a passion for developing high-performing teams.
**Key Responsibilities*** Lead, coach, and develop a team of payroll professionals.
* Ensure the accurate and timely delivery of payroll services across the organisation.
* Maintain compliance with Australian payroll legislation, taxation, superannuation requirements, awards, and enterprise agreements.
* Drive payroll governance, risk management, and audit compliance activities.
* Lead payroll process optimisation and continuous improvement initiatives.
* Act as the payroll subject matter expert for SAP Payroll and related system enhancements.
* Partner closely with HR, Finance, IT, and operational leaders to improve payroll service delivery and employee experience.
* Oversee payroll reporting, reconciliations, month-end activities, and statutory obligations.
* Manage payroll-related projects, including legislative changes, system upgrades, and transformation initiatives.
* Build strong stakeholder relationships across the business while fostering a culture of service excellence and accountability.
**About You**You are an experienced payroll leader who thrives in a complex and fast-paced workplace.
You possess strong technical payroll knowledge, excellent leadership skills, and a commitment to delivering outstanding outcomes.
**Essential Experience*** Significant experience managing end-to-end payroll operations within a large, complex organisation.
* Demonstrated experience leading and developing payroll teams.
* Strong hands-on experience with SAP Payroll is essential.
* Extensive knowledge of Australian payroll legislation, taxation, superannuation, awards, and enterprise agreements.
* Experience driving payroll transformation, process improvements, and system optimisation initiatives.
* Proven ability to influence and collaborate with senior stakeholders across multiple business functions.
**Qualifications*** Tertiary qualification in Business, Finance, Accounting, Human Resources, or a related discipline is desirable.
* Payroll qualifications and professional memberships will be highly regarded.
