Hornby Transport Services is looking for an experienced
Heavy Vehicle Mechanic
to join our team at our Unanderra depot.
n
This is a full-time opportunity working on a modern and wide-ranging fleet, including
Kenworth, Western Star and Freightliner trucks, predominantly powered by Cummins engines
, along with a range of tipper, flat-top and tautliner trailers.
n
If you enjoy diagnosing faults, solving problems and working with a variety of heavy vehicles, this role offers the opportunity to work both independently and as part of a supportive team.
What you'll be doing n
n
n
Carrying out scheduled servicing and preventative maintenance on trucks and trailers
n
n
Diagnosing and repairing mechanical faults and breakdowns
n
n
Working on a variety of heavy vehicle makes and models
n
n
Attending breakdowns onsite and offsite when required
n
n
Identifying problems and developing practical repair solutions
n
n
Accurately recording parts used and work completed
n
n
Working safely and maintaining a high standard of workmanship
n
n
Working independently when required while contributing positively to the wider team
n
What we offer n

$40–$50 per hour base rate
, depending on experience and skills

Overtime rates apply after 7.6 ordinary hours per day

About you n
We're looking for a qualified Heavy Vehicle Mechanic who takes pride in their work and can diagnose and repair faults efficiently.
n
You will ideally have:
n
n
n
Heavy Vehicle Mechanic trade qualification
n
n
Minimum 3 years' post-trade experience
n
n
HR or higher driver's licence
n
n
Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills
n
n
Good attention to detail and time management
n
n
The ability to work autonomously and as part of a team
n
n
Good written and verbal communication skills
n
n
The ability to accurately record work completed and parts used
n
n
A positive, reliable and safety-focused attitude
n
n
Forklift licence (advantageous, but not essential)
n
Roster and availability n
The position operates Monday to Friday, with a
rostered Saturday and on-call component each week
.
n
Availability for rostered on-call duties is a mandatory requirement of the position. Overtime and applicable allowances are paid in accordance with the applicable arrangements.
