We are partnering with a
well-established, construction business
that is looking to appoint an FP&A; Business Analyst to join its Finance function in Melbourne.
n
This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially minded finance professional looking to take the next step in their FP&A; career, working closely with senior finance leaders and business stakeholders across budgeting, forecasting, performance reporting, financial modelling and strategic analysis.
n
The role will have particular ownership across the
corporate business units
, while also playing a key role in maintaining and improving the group's cost allocation models.
The Opportunity n
Reporting to the
FP&A; Finance Manager
, you will provide high-quality analysis, insights and recommendations to support executive decision-making and improve business performance.
n
This is a role for someone who enjoys going beyond the numbers. You will be expected to understand the
commercial and operational drivers behind financial performance
, identify trends and opportunities, and translate complex financial information into clear insights for senior stakeholders.
n
Key responsibilities will include:
n
n
Supporting the annual
Group budgeting process
, including timelines, data extraction, analysis and system submissions
n
Supporting quarterly
forecasting and scenario planning
, ensuring financial models and assumptions are accurate and robust
n
Analysing historical performance, market trends and financial data to assist with setting business targets and KPIs
n
Preparing detailed
management and performance reporting
for senior leadership
n
Developing and maintaining financial models, business cases and scenario analysis to support investment and strategic decisions
n
Working closely with FP&A; Business Partners to understand key
risks, opportunities and business drivers
n
Preparing executive presentations and financial commentary for Group leadership
n




Maintaining financial dashboards and tracking key performance metrics
n
Taking ownership of
corporate cost allocation models
, ensuring methodology, accuracy and completeness
n
Presenting and explaining cost allocation outcomes to business unit leaders
n
Partnering across Finance, Finance Business Services and operational business units to deliver high-quality analysis and insights
n
Identifying opportunities to improve reporting, modelling, processes and the use of financial data
n
Leveraging technology and analytics to improve the quality and efficiency of FP&A; processes
n
About you n
We are looking for a
high-performing FP&A; professional
who combines strong analytical capability with genuine commercial acumen.
n
Ideally, you will have:
n
n
Previous experience in an
FP&A; Analyst / Commercial Analyst
role
n
OR
BIG 4 first time mover
with analysis experience
n
Excellent financial modelling and advanced Excel capability
n
Experience building
business cases, scenario models and investment analysis
n
Strong understanding of ERP systems, with
Microsoft Dynamics 365
experience highly regarded
n
n
Construction or a related industry, as well as experience with corporate cost allocations, would be highly regarded but is not essential.
n
