Solicitor – Family & Criminal Law (Contract)
We are seeking experienced Solicitors to join our Melbourne CBD practice and provide high-quality legal advice, representation and case management across a range of legal matters. We are particularly interested in solicitors with experience in Family Law and Criminal Law, while experience in Commercial Law will be considered beneficial. There are two contract positions available, offering flexible working arrangements with the option to work remotely or attend our Melbourne CBD office as preferred or required.
Key responsibilities
Manage Family Law and/or Criminal Law matters from initial instructions through to resolution.
Provide practical, accurate and timely legal advice to clients regarding their rights, obligations and available legal options.
Conduct client conferences, obtain instructions and maintain regular communication with clients throughout their matters.
Draft and review legal correspondence, applications, affidavits, submissions, agreements and other legal documents.
Prepare matters for court proceedings, including organising evidence, preparing briefs and managing procedural requirements.
Attend and appear in courts, tribunals, conferences and other legal proceedings where appropriate.
Negotiate with opposing solicitors, parties and other relevant stakeholders to achieve appropriate outcomes for clients.




Conduct legal research and remain up to date with relevant legislation, case law and court procedures.
Maintain accurate and well‐organised client files, records, correspondence and matter documentation.
Manage competing priorities, client expectations, court dates and deadlines efficiently.
About you
Approximately 3–5 years of post-admission legal experience, preferably across Family Law and/or Criminal Law.
A recognised Bachelor of Laws (LLB), Juris Doctor (JD) or equivalent legal qualification, together with appropriate admission and eligibility to practise in Victoria.
Strong legal drafting, research, negotiation, advocacy and client communication skills.
Ability to manage matters independently while maintaining excellent organisation, professional judgement and attention to detail.
