PERSOL is partnering with a growing and well-established accounting practice to recruit an experienced
Accounts Officer
to join their team.
This is a hands-on role supporting a diverse portfolio of clients across a range of industries. You'll work closely with experienced accountants and clients, taking ownership of day-to-day accounting and bookkeeping requirements while building strong relationships and providing reliable financial support.
The role would suit an experienced Accounts Officer who enjoys variety, is confident working across multiple client accounts and takes pride in getting the detail right.
Strong Xero experience is essential.
About the Role
Working as part of a professional and team-oriented accounting team, you'll be responsible for managing a range of accounting and bookkeeping requirements across a portfolio of clients, including:
Managing day-to-day accounts and bookkeeping for a portfolio of clients
Maintaining accurate financial records and accounting systems
Completing bank, credit card and balance sheet reconciliations
Processing accounts payable and accounts receivable
Preparing and processing payroll, including STP and superannuation
Assisting with BAS and IAS preparation
Preparing and maintaining journals and financial data
Supporting month-end processes and reporting
Reviewing transactions and investigating discrepancies
Liaising directly with clients regarding accounting and financial matters
Assisting accountants with broader client accounting requirements
Maintaining accurate and up-to-date client records
Providing general accounts support and assisting with ad hoc tasks as required
You'll have the opportunity to work across a diverse client base,

About You
You'll have previous experience in an accounts or bookkeeping role and be confident managing accounting requirements with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail. Ideally, you'll have experience within an accounting or professional services environment and enjoy working closely with both clients and internal stakeholders.
You will ideally bring:
Demonstrated experience using Xero - essential
Previous experience in an Accounts Officer, Bookkeeper or similar role
Strong understanding of accounting and bookkeeping principles
Experience across accounts payable and accounts receivable
Strong reconciliation skills and excellent attention to detail
Experience processing payroll, including STP and superannuation
Exposure to BAS and IAS preparation
Previous experience within an accounting or professional services setting
Excellent organisation and time management skills
Strong communication and client liaison skills
The ability to work autonomously and manage competing priorities
A proactive, practical and solutions-focused approach
Experience with MYOB, QuickBooks or other accounting platforms will be advantageous
