Job Details
Design and maintain scalable, secure, and reusable technology platforms that support multiple products and services, ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture, design principles, and organisational strategy.
Enable effective, reliable, and sustainable platform capabilities while minimising technical debt and supporting delivery at scale.
HPRG Digital Branch leads the modernisation of Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) and Office of Drug Control's (ODC) digital systems for the HPRG.
This includes building a modern intuitive digital platform for the TGA and the ODC that aims to make interactions with us easy, seamless, secure and efficient for industry, and that supports HPRG staff to enable faster and smoother processing of applications and provides better support for our compliance and regulatory functions.
The Department is seeking to add a D365 platform architect to assist in driving the digital transformation.




Working within BTSS's Program Architecture capability, the Platform Architect acts as the architectural bridge between strategy, program architecture, product delivery teams, enterprise architecture and platform engineering teams.
The role supports platform roadmap development, transition planning, dependency management, architecture assurance and the progressive delivery of the TGA future state architecture.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
Develop and maintain platform architecture aligned to enterprise standards and design principles.
Establish and enforce design standards, patterns, and best practices for platform implementation and adoption.
Ensure platforms meet performance, scalability, security, and reliability requirements.
Identify and manage platform-level risks and technical debt, including maintaining asset metadata.
Develop strategies to improve platform efficiency, reduce risk, and support modernisation.
Provide technical leadership and guidance to platform and delivery teams.
Support integration and reuse of platform services across multiple products and initiatives.
Contribute to architecture governance, including design reviews and alignment with enterprise architecture.
Ensure platform roadmaps support the Department's target operating model and future state architecture(s).
Identify opportunities to retire legacy technologies and reduce technical debt.
Define platform transition strategies and migration pathways.
Ensure platform design decisions support long-term transformation objectives.
Provide architecture assurance across initiatives entering the transformation pipeline.
Assess proposals,



discoveries and delivery activities against platform standards and target-state architecture.
Resolve platform-level dependencies impacting the transformation.
Other duties as required and advised by the Architecture Hub and Directors.
Facilitate an effective transfer of skills and knowledge to the buyer to enable full use of services and deliverables and associated documents.

Selection Criteria
1. - Experience in delivering large scale digital transformation including transitioning from legacy technology onto Azure platforms
2. - Experience working within government or highly regulated environments (desirable).
3. - Certifications in TOGAF 9, COBIT 5 Foundation, SAFe, Scrum and/or ITIL v3 Foundation are desirable.
4. - Demonstrated experience designing complex ICT solutions in large, federal environments.
