The National OffshorePetroleum Safety and Environmental Management Authority(NOPSEMA) is Australia's independent expert regulator for healthand safety, structural integrity, well integrity andenvironmental management for all offshore energy operations andgreenhouse gas storage activities in Commonwealth waters and incoastal waters where regulatory powers and functions have beenconferred. NOPSEMA alsoadministers the functions of the Offshore Infrastructure Regulator(OIR), for the offshore renewables industry. This includes theregulation of work health and safety, infrastructure integrity, andenvironmental management for offshore renewable energyinfrastructure activities. Role:
NOPSEMA's StrategicCommunications and Engagement (SCE) Directorate plays a centralrole in the agency's stakeholder management, spanning ministerialand parliamentary engagement, policy reform, sector and communityengagement, media liaison, and crisis communications. TheDirectorate also provides secretariat support to the NOPSEMAAdvisory Board.
We are looking for a
Secretariat and Policy Officer
to provideadministrative, coordination and secretariat support across theDirectorate's core functions, including secretariat services to theAdvisory Board and support for NOPSEMA's crisis responsearrangements. This is a great opportunity for an organised,detail-focused skilled to work at the heart of a regulatoryagency, supporting governance processes that matter, while buildingexperience across policy, communications and crisismanagement.
KeyResponsibilities:
Provide high-qualitysecretariat support to the NOPSEMA Advisory Board, includingpreparing agendas and papers, taking accurate minutes,
andtracking actions in line with governancerequirements.
Coordinate AdvisoryBoard meetings end-to-end, from scheduling through to timelydistribution of materials.
Support the crisisresponse team when activated, helping prepare documentation,maintain records, and coordinate meetings.
Contribute to thereview of policy documents and whole-of-government initiativesas needed.
Maintain and updateNOPSEMA's records, systems and processes relevant to StrategicCommunications and Engagement, including corporate recordmanagement systems.
Build strong workingrelationships across the organisation to support collaborationon communications and engagement activities.
Wewould like to hear from you, if you have:
Experience providinggovernance and secretariat support — preparing agendas andpapers, coordinating meetings, taking minutes, and supportingdecision-making processes.
Administrativeexperience in a corporate, government or regulatorysetting.
Strongorganisational skills, with the ability to juggle competingpriorities, stay accurate, and meet deadlines.
Clear, confidentwritten and verbal communication skills, with the ability toengage a range of stakeholders professionally.
Proficiency acrossMicrosoft Office and collaboration tools — Outlook, Word,Excel, Teams and SharePoint.
