As a Systems Specialist, you will play a key role in maintaining, supporting and enhancing Council's enterprise infrastructure, ensuring our technology environment remains reliable, secure and fit for the future. Reporting within our ICT team, this is an exciting opportunity to apply your technical expertise across infrastructure, cloud, security and modernisation initiatives while influencing the future direction of critical technology services.
This role provides technical leadership across a diverse technology landscape, including Windows Server, Active Directory/Entra ID, VMware, Azure, enterprise storage, backup and disaster recovery platforms. You will work closely with internal stakeholders, vendors and project teams to deliver secure, resilient and high-performing technology solutions that support Council's services and strategic objectives.

Position Responsibilities Include:
Provide technical leadership and expertise across Council's infrastructure and cloud environments.
Design, implement, maintain and support enterprise infrastructure platforms including Windows Server, Active Directory/Entra ID, VMware, Azure, storage and backup solutions.
Prepare and maintain technical documentation including High Level Designs (HLDs), Low Level Designs (LLDs) and operational procedures.
Lead troubleshooting and resolution of complex technical incidents and undertake post-incident analysis to improve service delivery.
Implement and maintain cybersecurity controls aligned with ISO *****, NIST, ASD Essential Eight and internal governance requirements.
Support disaster recovery, business continuity, backup immutability and identity protection strategies.
Manage the installation, maintenance and support of SQL databases.
Contribute to infrastructure modernisation, automation,



cloud adoption and technology roadmap initiatives.
Collaborate with vendors, service providers and stakeholders to deliver technology solutions and ensure service level compliance.
Provide mentoring, guidance and technical support to operational and engineering teams.
Participate in incident, problem and change management processes to ensure operational excellence.
Key Indicators for Success:
Significant experience supporting and managing enterprise infrastructure environments.
Strong technical knowledge of Windows Server, Active Directory/Entra ID, VMware, Azure, enterprise storage and backup technologies.
Experience with SQL database administration and support.
Demonstrated ability to lead technical problem solving, analysis and resolution of complex infrastructure issues.
Knowledge of infrastructure security practices, disaster recovery and business continuity principles.
Experience with infrastructure automation and scripting using PowerShell and command-line tools (highly desirable).
Experience using monitoring and observability platforms such as SolarWinds or similar tools.
Understanding of ITIL, Agile methodologies, vendor management and service management practices.
Strong stakeholder engagement, communication and relationship management skills.
Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Relevant tertiary qualification in Information Technology, Computer Science or related discipline (desirable).
Industry certifications across Microsoft, VMware, Azure, cybersecurity or infrastructure technologies (highly regarded).
Current C Class Driver's Licence.
Ability to pass a National Police Check.
Ability to provide satisfactory results for all employment-related background checks.




Availability to participate in an after-hours on-call roster when required.
