About the Role
This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Assistant Accountant or Accountant to join an established and highly regarded cultural and performing arts organisation in Brisbane.
Working as part of a collaborative Finance team, you will take ownership of the organisation’s Trust account ledger, with a strong focus on daily sales transactions, ticketing and payment reconciliations, banking and ensuring transactions are accurately recorded and reconciled across multiple sales platforms.
This is a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys working with transactional data, reconciliations and financial systems, and who takes pride in accuracy and getting the detail right. You will work closely with the wider Finance team and internal stakeholders to ensure sales, settlements and Trust transactions are processed accurately and efficiently.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Manage the Trust account ledger, ensuring daily transaction postings are accurate, complete and appropriately recorded.
- Process and reconcile daily ticketing and sales transactions across various sales systems and channels.
- Generate daily sales reports and import sales data into the Trust ledger.
- Perform detailed ticketing reconciliations, ensuring ticket sales and event transactions reconcile accurately.
- Complete Stripe and other payment reconciliations, investigating discrepancies and ensuring payments are accurately recorded.
- Reconcile voucher transactions, including parking vouchers and other products sold through various sales platforms.
- Record daily sales transactions and payments, including back-office payments, off-site ticketing and other secondary sales channels.
- Prepare and populate sales journals and ensure transactions are correctly recorded within the Trust ledger.
- Complete bank reconciliations, analysing deposits received from the organisation’s various sales platforms.
- Identify, investigate and resolve reconciliation discrepancies and operational issues in a timely manner.
- Work closely with Finance and ticketing teams to validate ticket sales, security deposits, vouchers, settlements and other transactions.
- Support the reconciliation and settlement of events, including relevant cost transfers, accruals and financial data input.
- Assist with monthly inter-fund transactions, extracting information from ticketing and point-of-sale systems and reconciling transactions for transfer to the general ledger.
Skills & Experience Required
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in Accounting or Finance
- Demonstrated experience in financial accounting, including reconciliations, reporting, and analysis.
- Sound understanding of accounting standards, taxation legislation (GST, FBT), and internal control processes.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with accounting systems such as TechnologyOne and SAP Concur
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills,
with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a cooperative and proactive approach.
