Our client is a major government-owned energy provider with a diverse portfolio of generation assets, including thermal, wind, solar, and hybrid systems across Western Australia. Their Generation Business Unit plans and delivers vital construction and infrastructure projects that support the states energy future.
About the Position
We are seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer to provide technical and project support across power generation assets. Working closely with operations and maintenance teams, you will lead investigations into technical issues, support capital and maintenance projects, and ensure electrical systems operate safely, reliably, and efficiently. This role will play a key part in supporting gas turbine and distributed generation assets while driving asset performance, reliability, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership across electrical and control system assets.
- Investigate plant performance issues and perform root cause analysis.
- Review and approve electrical maintenance work scopes.
- Support project management, engineering design, and technical studies.
- Develop maintenance strategies and asset management plans.
- Provide engineering support during outages and shutdowns.
- Review designs, specifications, calculations, and technical documentation.
- Support procurement, contractor management, and capital project delivery.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory, safety, and engineering standards.
- Drive improvements in plant reliability, performance, and risk management.
Skills and Experience Required
- Bachelor of Engineering qualification.
- 5-7+ years' experience in an Electrical Engineering role.
- Strong understanding of generators, transformers, and circuit breakers.
- Experience within power generation, gas turbines, or energy infrastructure highly regarded.
- Experience across HV, LV, protection, control, and instrumentation systems.
- Solid knowledge of asset management and reliability principles.
- Experience managing projects, contractors, and technical stakeholders.
- Strong problem-solving, risk management, and root cause analysis capability.
- Chartered Engineer status or equivalent (desirable).
- Experience with power system studies and DigSILENT PowerFactory (advantageous).
- C Class Drivers Licence
- Provide a recent National Police Clearence
Roster & Location
- Pinjar Power Station, WA
- Monday to Friday
- 75 hours per fortnight with flexible RDO arrangement
- 6-month contract with immediate start
- Competitive hourly rate + super (dependent on experience)
