Baseball Queensland is expanding its regional workforce and is seeking energetic, reliable and community-minded people to join our team as Casual Development Officers across regional Queensland.
This is a casual, demand-led role supporting the delivery and growth of baseball programs in schools, clubs and local communities.
You do not need an extensive baseball background. We are looking for people who enjoy working with children and young people, are confident delivering physical activity, communicate well and can create a positive and engaging experience for participants.
About the role
As a Casual Development Officer, you may be involved in:
- Delivering engaging baseball, Baseball5 and introductory sporting activities in schools
- Supporting Sporting Schools programs, school clinics and participation initiatives
- Promoting local baseball clubs and helping create pathways from schools into community sport
- Assisting with Come & Try Days, holiday programs, community events and club recruitment activities
- Supporting Baseball Queensland regional programs and initiatives
- Working alongside BQ Development Officers and local baseball stakeholders
- Setting up and packing down equipment
- Maintaining a protected, inclusive and positive delivery environment
- Representing Baseball Queensland professionally in schools and the wider community
Most school-based delivery occurs during weekday school hours, with additional opportunities potentially available before or after school, during school holidays and at community events.
Who we are looking for
We would like to hear from people who are:
- Enthusiastic, confident and comfortable engaging groups of children
- Reliable, organised and professional
- Able to work independently and as part of a team
- Passionate about sport, participation and creating positive experiences for young people
- Flexible with their availability
- Comfortable delivering physical activity sessions
- Experience in coaching, teaching, education, community sport, recreation, baseball or softball would be advantageous, but is not essential.
Training and support will be provided by Baseball Queensland.
Locations
We are currently recruiting casual staff across:
- Mackay
- Rockhampton
As this is a regionally based role, applicants should clearly identify:
- Their current suburb or town
- Their preferred region/s to work in
- Their general weekday availability
This will help us understand where applicants are based and which programs and locations may be the best fit.
This is a casual position only, with work offered based on program demand and availability. There are no guaranteed minimum hours.
Remuneration will be in accordance with the Sporting Organisations Award 2020, based on the applicable classification and age‑related Award rate, plus superannuation.
Successful applicants will be required to meet Baseball Queensland's employment and safeguarding requirements, including:
- Holding or obtaining a valid Queensland Working with Children Blue Card
- Holding a current driver’s licence
- Having access to reliable transport to attend schools, clubs and programme locations
Shortlisted applicants will be invited to participate in an interview with Baseball Queensland.
