The Clinical Midwifery Consultant Grade 2 (CMC G2) will play a key leadership role as the implementation lead for the Operative Vaginal Birth (OVB) Safety Bundle at Royal North Shore Hospital. Working closely with the Medical Lead, the successful applicant will coordinate the education and training program, support the integration of standardised tools into clinical practice, and champion interprofessional communication, teamwork, and situational awareness across maternity services.

Royal North Shore Hospital has received support to partner with Monash Health in implementing the Operative Vaginal Birth (OVB) Safety Bundle. The OVB Safety Bundle is a structured model of care designed to improve the safety and quality of assisted vaginal births through enhanced communication, standardised clinical practices, and a focus on reducing maternal and neonatal complications.

The successful applicant will demonstrate experience in leading complex team-oriented projects and possess highly developed change management, stakeholder engagement, and clinical leadership skills. This role is ideally suited to an experienced midwifery leader with a proven ability to influence and support multidisciplinary teams, including both midwifery and medical staff,



to achieve sustainable practice change.

The position also includes a significant project administration and quality improvement component, requiring the collection and monitoring of key performance metrics, review and implementation of clinical guidance documents, and incorporation of patient-centred co-design principles and consumer feedback into service development and evaluation activities.

Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:

- A registered midwife who has at least 5 years full time equivalent post registration experience, with at least 3 years full time equivalent experience in the speciality field. In addition the employee must have an approved postgraduate midwifery qualification relevant to the speciality and hold a Masters pertaining to the speciality or is willing to enrol and commence a Masters in the speciality within two years of appointment.
- Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated advanced computer skills, including MS Office programs and electronic filing systems.
