SM Electrical Manufacturing specialises in the manufacture of Main Switchboards, Distribution Boards and Control Panels for the electrical industry. The Role

We're looking for a motivated Sheet Metal Tradesperson to join our fabrication team. You'll be responsible for the fabrication, modification and assembly of sheet metal components used in the manufacture of electrical switchboards – working to engineering drawings with precision, efficiency and a strong eye for quality.

What You'll Be Doing

- Manufacture and assemble sheet metal enclosures, panels, brackets and related components to engineering drawings and job specifications
- Operate fabrication equipment including guillotines, press brakes and fibre laser
- Perform accurate cutting, folding, punching and fitting of sheet metal materials
- Fit off hardware, gland plates, hinges, locks and other switchboard accessories
- Carry out welding, grinding and finishing to a high-quality standard




- Check and verify components for dimensional accuracy and finish quality against Australian Standards
- Work closely with the electrical workshop and office teams to hit production goals
- Help train and mentor apprentices and new team members
- Keep the workshop clean, organised and safe, and take part in toolbox talks

What We're Looking For

- Certificate III in Engineering – Sheet Metal Trade, or equivalent qualification
- Proven experience in sheet metal fabrication
- Proficiency with fabrication machinery (press brake, guillotine) and welding equipment
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and fabrication details
- Solid attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
- Good communication and teamwork skills, and a solid understanding of WHS requirements

Nice to have:

- Experience in a switchboard or electrical manufacturing environment
- Experience working with aluminium
