EMERGENCY REGISTRAR | MELBOURNE | FROM AUG 2026 | 12-MONTH CONTRACT

Our client is seeking Emergency Registrars to join their newly redeveloped Emergency Department that offers a highly cooperative team culture, a diverse clinical workload, and a supportive environment.

This position provides an exceptional opportunity to advance your emergency medicine career within a modernised, high-volume health service experiencing significant regional growth.

FAST FACTS

- New State-of-the-art Emergency Department
- Excellent exposure to diverse and high-demand clinical presentations
- 24-month ACEM accredited site

THE POSITION

In this role, you will lead the assessment, clinical management, and ongoing care of patients across a highly diverse clinical workload.

Operating within a newly expanded, modern facility, you will work as part of a collaborative Emergency Medicine team to make timely clinical decisions and perform emergency procedures. This position requires you to manage patient care across various specialised streams under a structured supervisory framework, with Specialist support available on-floor or via an on-call framework depending on rostered shift times. Beyond direct patient care, you will provide essential support and guidance to junior medical staff.

Excellent opportunities exist to satisfy core training requirements through 3-month ACEM-accredited Anaesthetic rotations and 6-month ACEM-accredited ICU rotations.

THE DEPARTMENT

With the final completion of its major redevelopment, the Emergency Department has officially launched a premier, purpose-built clinical setting optimized for high-volume emergency care. The upgraded facility boasts 67 advanced treatment spaces that double previous capacity, allowing the hospital to absorb an extra 25,000 presentations and manage over 65,000 total patients annually.

To optimise care across the patient mix,

the department now completely separates adult acute treatment areas from a dedicated, co-located pediatric zone, effectively streaming the 80% adult and 20% child cohorts. Fully equipped with state-of-the-art resuscitation bays, streamlined Fast Track streams, short-stay beds, and secure mental health spaces, the department offers an unparalleled environment for emergency medicine professionals.

The department is accredited by the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine (ACEM) for 24 months of advanced training and is known for its supportive and collaborative culture.

Registrars are well supported by Emergency Staff Specialists and benefit from a structured fellowship teaching and exam preparation program, protected weekly teaching time, and opportunities to teach junior doctors and medical students.

Additional educational opportunities include completion of the Emergency Medicine Certificate and Emergency Medicine Diploma through the hospital.

THE HOSPITAL

Following recent redevelopments, this premier healthcare facility has transitioned from a localised community service into a high-volume general hospital designed to meet growing population demands.

The expanded campus operates nearly 300 overnight inpatient beds, supported by an Intensive Care Unit (ICU), specialised sub-acute care wings, and modern operating theatres equipped for complex medical and surgical cases. The hospital also serves as a key regional provider for chronic disease management, featuring a high-capacity Renal Dialysis centre,

alongside comprehensive acute and community mental health services.

The facility functions as a major regional hub for maternity and neonatal care. It provides comprehensive obstetric and midwifery services, supported by a specialised Special Care Nursery for premature or unwell newborns. Additionally, the campus operates as a university-affiliated clinical training facility administered by a leading health network, providing undergraduate and postgraduate education for medical, nursing, and allied health professionals.
